Hymn festival in Tacoma will feature many musical groups

It’s going to be an afternoon of gospel, hymns and music at the 25th Annual Reformation Sunday Hymn Festival. There will be congregational hymn singing and guest performers including the Evergreen Brass Quintet, Bagpipers Suzanne Wolf and Seamus Neary, the Sonoro Women’s Choir, the Musical Parables Revue, the Tacoma Totemaires Barbershop Chorus and the Sons of Thunder Men’s Gospel Choir. The performance is at 3 p.m. Sunday at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 3315 S. 19th St., Tacoma. The event is free and open to the public, a reception will follow the performance. Blues Vespers beings Bill Sims Jr. to Immanuel Presbyterian Church

New York bluesman Bill Sims Jr. will be performing in a Special Blues Vespers at 7 p.m. Sunday. Come out to Immanuel Presbyterian Church, 901 N. J St., Tacoma for the free concert. For more information call 253-627-8371.

Fall festival and trunk or treat sponsored by Puyallup church

Get a jump on fall festivities at the free Annual Fall Festival and Trunk or Treat community event sponsored by the Puyallup United Methodist Church, 1919 W. Pioneer Ave. There will be games, prizes, and tasty treats at this family-friendly event. Children must be accompanied by a parent and a costume contest will be held for all ages at 3 p.. The festival will be followed by a free Trunk or Treat from 3-4 p. .n the parking lot of the church. The fun begins at 1 p.m. Sunday. For more information call the church at 253-845-0547.

Classical Sundays concerts features Geoffrey Klock

The Classical Sundays concert series is in full swing at the Antique Sandwich Company, 5102 N. Pearl St., Tacoma. Weekly there will be performances from various local artists at 3 p.m. This week features Geoffrey Klock on guitar. The concerts will continue through Dec. 20. Admission is free, a donation is requested.

Beautiful Tables Showcase in final day Lakewold Gardens

The Lakewold Gardens is hosting its Beautiful Tables Showcase. The tradition of displaying inspiring and creative ideas for entertaining at home is in its 17th year at the gardens. Talk on faith and cynicism at University Place Library

Join the United for Peace Pierce County and the Tacoma Chapter of Jewish Voice for Peace at the presentation “ISIS: Authentic Islam or Manipulating Religion?” Dr. Steve Niva will discuss how Islamic is ISIS and the role of faith and cynicism in Iraq and Syria.
