Citing strong community support, promoters have expanded the Jet City Comic Show to two days. This year’s event, the sixth, will be Saturday and Sunday at the Tacoma Convention Center.

Bringing the world of comic books and science fiction to life with creators, authors and actors, the show will have more than 100 exhibitors and more than 100 creators on hand.

“We’re incredibly excited about the expansion to two-days,” said co-promoter Brian Meredith. “This growth was only made possible with the local community embracing the Jet City Comic Show.”

Attendees will have opportunities to get autographs from favorite, or newly discovered, writers/artists of comic books. There will be displays of source material for blockbuster movies, sketches from top artists, and the chance to find an unusual or hard-to-find comic book.

There also will be question-and-answer sessions, panel discussions and costume contests.

Featured comic guests: Jose Marzan Jr. (Superman, Y: The Last Man), Bob McLeod (Batman, Spider-Man), Nancy A. Collins (Swamp Thing), Clayton Crain (Ghost Rider) and animator Michel Gagné (The Iron Giant, Story of Rex).

Featured actors: Tough guy actor Vernon Wells (“Mad Max 2,” “Innerspace,” “Commando,” “Power Rangers”), frequent mutant bad guy Michael Berryman (“The Hills Have Eyes,” “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest”), scream queen Linnea Quigley (“The Return of the Living Dead” and “A Nightmare on Elm Street 4”).

Sci-fi writers: Also scheduled to appear at this year’s show are award-winning science fiction writers, including Terry Brooks (“Shannara” series), Robin Hobbs (“The Farseer” trilogy) and Brian Herbert (“Dune”).

New this year: Being on Halloween weekend, the show added trick-or-treating to Saturday’s schedule. In addition to candy, children will receive free comics through Comics4Kids.
