GET OUT: University of Puget Sound theater, Winterfest in Seattle and other happenings this week
Monday — Wednesday
University of Puget Sound Theatre Arts Students direct and perform scenes from six plays in its production “Directors’ Lab — A Festival of Scenes.” The performances take place in the Norton Clapp Theatre on the UPS campus. Shows each night at 5 and 7:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and are free to the public.
Monday — Dec. 31
Seattle’s month-long winter celebration, Winterfest, is open at the Seattle Center with lots of activities for the entire family. Ongoing events are open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. daily through Dec. 31, closed Christmas. Most activities are free or affordable; seattlecenter.com/winterfest.
Wednesday
Jeff Yeager: Finding Wholesale Happiness in a Retail World will present a humorous look at how to live well in a down economy at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Tacoma Public Library, 1102 Tacoma Ave. S. Tacoma. It is free and open to the public; 253-292-2001, tacomalibrary.org
Saturday —Sunday
The Holiday 2015 Vashon Island Art Studio Tour will be held this weekend from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. This free, self-guided event features 82 artists at 35 studios, shops and galleries. Tour maps are available at VashonIslandArtStudioTour.com and at island businesses.
