Ahoy, Christmas lovers!
Discover the beauty of holiday lights on the water at the annual Gig Harbor Lighted Boat Parade at 5 p.m. Saturday. Head out to Skansie Brothers Park, 3211 Harborview Drive, Gig Harbor, and stake your spot to see the parade circle the harbor. Sponsored by the Gig Harbor Yacht Club, boats will be decked out with lights and decorations to bring the holiday spirit to the water.

Take in the sights and sounds of the season as it was in the 1800s at the annual Christmas at the Fort event from 4-7:30 p.m. Saturday. The candlelight event will have re-enactors present in the remaining officers’ quarters at Historic Fort Steilacoom, 9601 Steilacoom Blvd. SW, Lakewood. On Dasher! On Dancer! On runners!
Get your best Santa or holiday costume on and join in the fun of the Santa Runs Tacoma race on Saturday. There will be a Tiny Tim’s 1K, Frosty’s 5K, Scrooge’s 10K and the Donner & Blitzen 21K. There’s a run for just about everyone. The fun begins at 8:30 a.m. in downtown Tacoma, starting at South 10th and A streets. Holidays at the conservatory
Normally the W.W. Seymour Conservatory, 316 S. G St., Tacoma, is a little tropical oasis of plants, flowers and natural beauty, but this weekend it will be transformed into a glittering snow globe at the Let It Snow! event. Hours are 6-8 p.m. Friday (Dec. 11) and Saturday. There is a $3 suggested donation.

Chorale sings the Christmas story
Take a journey to Bethlehem when the Federal Way Chorale presents its Christmas Concert “Amahl and the Night Visitors.” The story is about the disabled boy Amahl, the star of Bethlehem and the three kings. The concert is at 7:30 p.m. Friday (Dec. 11) and 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 515 S. 312th St., Federal Way. Tickets are $18, $15 seniors, and free for youth 18 and younger. Holiday treats made large
If you’re making a trip to Seattle for the holidays, take in the Gingerbread Village in the lobby of the Sheraton Seattle Hotel, 1400 Sixth Ave. Enjoy holiday music as you stroll through scenes made entirely out of candies and treats. It is free to the public; donations are accepted for the JDRF Northwest Chapter for the fight against Type 1 diabetes. It will be on display through Jan. 3.

A tale as old as time
Billed as a romantic musical for all ages, the Broadway production of “Beauty and the Beast” is coming to the Paramount Theatre, 911 Pine St., Seattle, just in time for the holidays. Based on the Academy Award-winning animated feature film, the stage production brings characters and music to life. It is running Friday (Dec. 11) through Sunday. Tickets start at $35. Promising to be an evening of on-stage experiments, the MythBusters — Jamie & Adam Unleashed show brings the Discovery series to the stage.
