The Gritty City Sirens, a Tacoma burlesque troupe, will celebrates its fifth anniversary with two shows Saturday at Jazzbones.
The Sirens’ “Cheers to Five Years” will be hosted by “Pretty Ricky” and will include original Siren members, as well as performers who later joined the troupe.
The group recently performed the Halloween show “Carnival of CuritosiTease,” and its successful run of “Adventures in OZ.”
“After five fabulous years the Gritty City Sirens are still going strong,” said troupe member Rosie Cheex. “We’ve been extremely grateful to our sponsors, fans and community for the continued support.”
Cheex said that for their anniversary show the group wanted to “bring it back to where it all began, for an intimate celebration.” The show will thus include the return of popular acts from the past five years, along with fresh choreography and costuming.
Scheduled for the stage are longtime burlesque performer Velvet Ice, original members Ava D’Jor, Funny Face Fanny, Polly PuckerUp and Cheex, as well as Adora Borialis, Bettie Klondike, Heather Hostility, Kitty Kisses, Lady GoDiva and Pink ChamPain.
The troupe’s newest members are experienced in burlesque, vocals, pole performances and opera, Cheex said.
