Make plans for New Year’s Day with two local Polar Bear Plunges:
Come out to join in the tradition or to just watch the fun at Metro Parks Tacoma’s plunge at the Point Defiance Marina, 5912 N. Waterfront Drive. There will be a Cub Plunge at 11:30 a.m. for kids younger than 10 and the adult/family plunge is at noon. Participants in the free plunge can warm up in heating tents and sip free hot drinks plus a $3 off general admission and commemorative event t-shirt or towel. If you’re in the South Sound then check out the annual plunge taking place at Long Lake Park, 2790 Carpenter Road SE, Lacey. Join fellow enthusiasts for the annual tradition, enjoy campfires, music, hot cocoa and coffee. The plunge is at 1 p.m. If you’re not quite ready for the plunge, come out to cheer the participants.
