New Gig Harbor teen open mic

A new teen open mic will offer Peninsula teens the chance to express themselves through music, poetry or dance on the last Friday of every month. Performers must be ages 13-18, with an unplugged act.

New York jazz trio in Graham

The New York-based jazz trio the Daniel Bennett Group will release its new CD at the Graham Public Library concert series this Saturday, as part of a Seattle area tour. Playing modern jazz mixed with folk, world and experimental classical music, the trio features Daniel Bennett on sax, flute and oboe, guitarist Nat Janoff and drummer Matthew Feick, and was recently voted Best New Jazz Group by Hot House Magazine.

Letterpress at the Tacoma Wayzgoose

Tacoma’s 12th annual two-day Wayzgoose at King’s Books celebrates the best of Puget Sound letterpress and book arts with vendors, hands-on activities including papermaking and screenprinting (bring your own T-shirt), and the famous 3x3-feet steamroller prints. Steamroller artists include Beautiful Angle, Stadium High School and Chris Sharp; celebrity drivers include novelists Marissa Meyer and Tom Llewellyn, historian Michael Sullivan and paper artist Laurie Cinotto. 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The Revels welcome in May

It’s spring, it’s May, and you can celebrate both with the Puget Sound Revels as they sing and dance their way through their annual May Day event in Wright Park. Make flower crowns, join in folk dancing and more.
