The Tacoma Singing Society performs its first concert alongside the new Tacoma Ringing Society and South Sound Youth Choir. Under director Megan Oberfeld, the two choirs and handbell choir combine for a program themed “Earth, Air, Fire and Water.”

‘Avenue Q’ opens at Lakewood Playhouse
Described as “Sesame Street meets South Park,” the three-time Tony winning musical “Avenue Q” uses puppets and actors to tell the coming-of-age story of a college grad who discovers real adult life. Note: Contains very mature and adult content. This is the final show of the playhouse’s 77th season.

SaveKPLU jazz event at Cheney Stadium
Tacoma’s jazz musicians are rallying around the campaign to save KPLU radio from being bought by KUOW. Near its $7 million goal, the campaign is holding a jazz evening fundraiser at Cheney Stadium featuring the Kareem Kandi Band, the David Joyner Trio and the Tracy Knoop Quartet, plus on-air radio personalities in the Summit Club, evening dancing with Studio 6, Rhubarb the Reindeer and a wiffle ball field.
