This weekend at Christ Episcopal, Seattle a cappella choir The Esoterics go to Russia, singing Eric Banks’ settings of poetry by poet Sophia Parnok.

‘Mary Poppins’ at TMP
Tacoma Musical Playhouse presents the popular family musical “Mary Poppins.” The show features Caelan Creaser as the slightly-magical, ever-correct governess, Harry Turpin as the chimney sweep Bert and Summer Mays/Amelia Stiles and Ian Bartlett as the irrepressible children Jane and Michael Banks. This version includes new songs and additional lyrics. This is the final production of the Playhouse’s 2015-16 season.

PLU’s Jazz Under the Stars
Pacific Lutheran University’s summer Jazz Under the Stars series just began, and it’ll continue on Thursdays through Aug.11 with Northwest jazz icons like the Keith Henson Octet (Thursday) and Eugenie Jones (Aug. 4). The last three concerts include stargazing at the college’s Keck Observatory.
