Years ago, when John Fosberg was looking to open his Gig Harbor Brewing Co., he couldn’t find an affordable warehouse location with the infrastructure he needed for a brewing operation in the city of Gig Harbor.

So he headed across the Narrows bridge.

He founded his brewery and taproom on South Tacoma Way in the Nalley Valley in November 2015 but still named it after that other city across the bridge.

Two years later, Fosberg’s brewery is bustling and his taproom popular with fans of his ales.

He says he’s always longed for a presence in his namesake town.

That’s about to happen.

He expects his Gig Harbor outpost to open around the end of the first quarter of 2018.

The taproom will be located adjacent to Skansie Brothers Park at 3155 Harborview Drive.

There will be no brewing at the Gig Harbor location. It will serve as a taproom only. The Gig Harbor space will be around 1,900 square feet.

Said Fosberg, the “Tacoma brewery and taproom remains unchanged.” Brewing will continue at that location and the taproom there will remain open daily, as it is now.
