Black Kettle Bites and Brew in downtown Tacoma will close this week
Black Kettle Bites and Brew announced via its Facebook page that it will close Friday (June 22).
The sandwich cafe with a deep selection of craft beer in cans was opened in February 2016 by Texas ex-pats Rachel Ellenberg and Alicia Robinett.
The cafe was known for its grilled cheese sandwiches, breakfast burritos and burgeoning nightlife scene featuring open-mics, trivia nights and dance parties.
According to the Facebook post, the restaurant suffered a break-in earlier this year:
“...it's become increasingly difficult to financially keep the doors open; after the break-in, we couldn't recover. We are very grateful to everyone who has supported us and we hope to see you one last time.”
Robinett added via a Facebook message, "I want to express my deepest gratitude to all of our customers. You made each and every day at Black Kettle enjoyable, and created a community within us. Above all, I'd like to thank my staff, many of whom have been with me since opening. We've created a family within each other. Many days customers could feel that, and some of you became family too. I could not have lived and experienced this dream without everyone's support. Thank you for 2.5 amazing years."
The restaurant will be open through Friday at 744 Market St., Tacoma.
