Chain update: Puyallup's South Hill to get another Red Robin and a BJ's Brewhouse

Puyallup’s South Hill is home to chain restaurants that seem to multiply like Tribbles. Red Robin will now join The Ram and Applebee’s in duplicating itself there. The gourmet burger chain that was founded in the Northwest has applied for a liquor permit for a restaurant at 16904 Meridian Ave. E., Puyallup (near Kohl’s). A company spokeswoman confirmed via email that the restaurant will be a second South Hill location and the Red Robin near South Hill Mall will remain open. The new Red Robin is expected to open in the spring.

Next door to Red Robin at South Hill Mall, there’s been a lot of construction activity at the site that formerly housed T.G.I. Friday’s. Moving into that spot is BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse, a national chain known for beer and pizza. The chain already has a location at Tacoma Mall. A company spokesman estimated an opening by mid-February.

And while we're on the subject of chain restaurants in Puyallup (because it's the mecca for chain restaurants), Buffalo Wild Wings in Longston Place (next to the movie theaters) looks to be close to opening, if it's not already. That restaurant chain also has a location near Tacoma Mall. Update: An employee reports the restaurant will open Oct. 15.

Speaking of South Hill restaurants, I hope to have an update soon on My Greek, the South Hill restaurant that recently vacated Longston Place. The restaurant announced on its website that it's moving to Sunrise Village, but I have yet to receive confirmation of that. Check back tomorrow for a blog post about changes at Jubilee, the bakery in Longston Place that's recently expanded.
