Amocat Cafe closing, but Tacoma Brewing Company will continue

Amocat Cafe, which opened three years ago in the St. Helens neighborhood, no longer will be a coffee house, but owner Morgan Alexander intends to continue brewing his beer under the moniker Tacoma Brewing Co., a brewery he started just about a year ago. Alexander will continue using the Amocat space for Tacoma Brewing Co., where he'll serve his beer from 5-9 p.m.  Wednesday-Friday and 3-9 p.m. Saturday.

Alexander is planning a "Grand Closing Event" Oct. 11 for the coffee side of his business. Here is Alexander's announcement (with a link):

Amocat Cafe

Friends, thank you for your support over the past three plus years. It has been a fun ride and I'm glad I had the chance to fulfill the longtime obsession of running a coffee shop. For me, the best part was meeting so many awesome people.

As many of you know, I have been pursuing another longtime obsession: making beer. To this end, I have recently made the not so easy decision to close Amocat and dedicate 100% of my time to the Tacoma Brewing Co.

Since we don't always get the chance to say goodbye when a business closes, I thought it would be fun to have a "Grand Closing Event". Only it won't really be goodbye, because I'll still be here... I'll just be making beer instead of coffee.

Please join me Friday, October 11th 5-9pm for the Amocat Grand Closing Party. There will be cheese, crackers, and of course, beer.
