Multi-course meals start at $20 during spring edition of Tacoma Restaurant Week

Find a variety of meal deals at a dozen restaurants around Tacoma, Fife and Ruston over 10 days in April.

Tacoma Restaurant Week, organized by Northwest Military and launched in 2008, returns for its spring edition next week. Businesses pay a fee to participate in the promotion, which aims to draw attention to local restaurants while offering customers a chance to enjoy multi-course meals at a discount.

The event excludes Friday and Saturday service. Reservations are recommended Sunday through Thursday, March 30-April 3 and April 6-10.

Some participants have joined the event in years past, but there are a few newcomers, including Berliner Beerhall and Ms. Jane’s Fine Dining at BJ’s Bingo in Fife.

Since 2022, the organizers have allowed restaurants to choose a price point that works for them, for both lunch and dinner. They range from a $20 two-course lunch at The Adriatic at Oakbrook (arancini or Caesar and a crispy seafood salad or house burger) to a $65 three-course dinner at the renovated Lobster Shop on the Ruston Way waterfront (ceviche; prime rib, vegan linguine or crab-crusted sockeye; berries and cream dessert). Most menus hover around $30-$45.

A $60 offering at El Gaucho offers your choice of “insane” truffle soup or a salad; 8 ounces of filet mignon (with tableside presentation), a T-bone lamb or pan-seared halibut; and a dessert of New York-style cheesecake with pineapple sorbet.

At Ms. Jane’s, which was overhauled last year, enjoy a Caesar, champagne-infused Dungeness crab pasta and peanut butter layer cake — all for $45.

In downtown Tacoma, Matador will serve $25 lunch combos, including an agua fresca, garlic prawns or pork-belly quesadillas, and your choice of chile rellenos, asada divorciadas (rojo on one side, verde on the other) or blackened mahi. The dinner menu moves to $35 but includes choco tacos for dessert.

You can also snag a $35 breakfast-for-dinner at Hob Nob, with an entree, a drink — including the diner’s locally famous bloody mary — and a slice of chocolate cake.
