Find juices, smoothies, acai bowls at new juice bar in Steilacoom

There’s a new place in Steilacoom to get your daily dose of fruits and veggies, but in a much tastier format.

Pure Intentions Juice Bar opened March 9, with a menu including fresh juices, smoothies, acai bowls, wellness shots and fruit cups.

Aneidi Garcia, owner of Pure Intentions Juice Bar, said her own health journey with juicing inspired her to open the business.

Pure Intentions, 206 Wilkes St., is a welcome addition to the area, since most of the juice bars in Pierce County are in Tacoma.

The idea for the juice bar came from owner Aneidi Garcia’s mission to get healthier. Growing up, she said, health was not emphasized in her community.

Years later, after developing thyroid issues and polycystic ovary syndrome, aka PCOS, Garcia said she was struggling to find a solution for her inflammation and chronic pain.

“I was just lost … I didn’t know what to do anymore,” Garcia said.

That was, until she walked into her friend’s wellness clinic. She realized a healthier diet was key, and juices and smoothies became her friends.

“It was really hard for me to get into eating more healthy, but this was easier,” Garcia said. “I could put spinach in my smoothie, and [for] my juicing — I could put a variety of vegetables in there.”

The idea to open her own juice bar meant lots of experimenting at home, throwing different ingredients into a blender and getting her family to taste test.

“I would get them to try it. I would be like, ‘It’s good for you guys!’ even though they probably got annoyed by me,” Garcia said, chuckling.

Garcia first advertised the incoming juice bar in late 2024, and after delays from health department inspections, she opened this month.

It’s only been a handful of days, but Pure Intentions has proved to be popular so far, with a good flow of customers on a rainy Wednesday morning.

The menu includes over a dozen varieties of juices, including the Tigers Blood with beet, celery, pineapple and orange, and the Green Heart with spinach, celery, cucumber, apple, lemon and ginger. A 20-ounce juice goes for $11, while a 24-ounce juice goes for $13.

Smoothies have the same prices and sizes, along with a smaller 16-ounce size that’s $8.50. There are also a few different “Super Shots” for $3.75 a pop, including Garcia’s personal favorite Ginger Shot with ginger, orange, lemon and honey.

Acai bowls are one size for $11 and could definitely constitute a breakfast or lunch. Toppings include banana, strawberries, blueberries, goji berries, pumpkin seeds, coconut flakes and granola, with a drizzle of honey and your choice of almond or peanut butter.

Plus, you can make your own juice or smoothie, using just about everything that’s available in the kitchen.

Fruit cups sprinkled with Tajin round out the menu, and Garcia said she wants to sell fresh fruit in the summer. Other potential additions to the menu include avocado toast and salads.

While Garcia found that juices and wellness shots eased her health issues, she said she doesn’t want to push anything onto her customers. Some of the menu items include notes on potential health benefits, but she said she wants the customers to find out the benefits for themselves.

That aim for the business also helped Garcia come up with its name.

“My intentions are pure,” Garcia said. “If someone doesn’t know anything about juicing, [I want to] show them, like, these are the options we have, and just share a little bit of healthiness [with] the community.”
