Save on burgers, pizzas, sushi with these restaurant deals in and around Tacoma

With prices rising on just about everything, eating out can be a lot more expensive than we’d like.

However, lots of restaurants in and around Tacoma have pretty good deals, specials and discounts that go beyond Taco Tuesdays to take some pressure off your wallet.

Here’s where to find some of the best deals around town:

Bar Bistro

This New American restaurant in Midland has a good number of rotating specials. Until the end of March, all burgers are 20% off from 4-6 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays. The deal is good for dining in, takeout or delivery, using the code SAVINGS8228.

Bar Bistro’s burgers are a touch extravagant, coming in at a little over $20 with the discount. The Wagyu Burger comes with a half pound of Wagyu beef, spicy Bistro Aioli, arugula and tomato, with your choice of smoked cheddar, white cheddar, pepper jack, smoked gouda or swiss. The Bacon Jam Burger comes with a half pound of Angus beef, bacon jam aioli, fried sriracha onion rings, house pickles and smoked gouda, served on a brioche bun. Both burgers come with fries.

This no-frills spot for, you guessed it — cheesesteaks and wings — offers a $9.99 lunch special every day from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., which gets you a small original cheesesteak, fries and a drink. You can also grab 99-cent jumbo wings every Wednesday, with a selection of sauces, including hot, mild, BBQ, teriyaki, lemon pepper, garlic Parmesan, sweet ‘n’ spicy, mango habanero, honey mustard or spicy Korean BBQ.

This pizza joint in downtown Gig Harbor offers a variety of deals, including a daily lunch special from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., which gets you two small salads, one 12-inch pizza and two soft drinks for $28. Plus, if you order a 12-inch pizza, you can get a second 12-inch one topping pizza for $12. If you want to pair your pizza with wine, all bottles are 50% off every Tuesday.

Puget Sound Pizza has quite a few weekly deals. On Mondays, kids eat free and beer on tap is $5 off if you buy any food item. On Tuesdays, there are $3 tequila shots and 10-inch three topping pizzas for $12, and on Wednesdays, there are $5 glasses of wine and 16-inch pizzas with up to three toppings for $23.99. On Thursdays, you can get two entrées and two drinks for $29.

PSP also has online lunch specials Monday through Friday, including a 10-inch two-topping pizza or a sandwich, plus a 20-ounce soda, for $14.99. You can also get $5 off if you sign up for rewards.

At both the Puyallup and Lakewood locations of this local Italian chain, you can grab all-you-can-eat spaghetti for $12.99 Sunday through Thursday when dining in. The Puyallup location offers half-price pizzas when you buy a full price pizza on Sunday, Monday and Thursday, and half-off wine bottles each Wednesday.

This local brew pub chain has different deals throughout the week, including mac and cheese with chicken for $9.99 on Mondays, a burger and a regular side for $16.99 (Tuesdays in Tacoma and Wednesdays in Puyallup), $5 off Big Red’s Baby Back Ribs on Thursdays, and on Sundays and Mondays, kids eat for $1.99 if you buy a full-sized adult entrée.

This Mexican-inspired restaurant and bar in downtown Tacoma has a pretty decent happy-hour menu, which is available every day from 4-6 p.m. and from 10 p.m. to last call. You can get a selection of appetizers, including quesadillas, for $6, and some more sizable fare for $7, including a large plate of Grande Nachos with cheddar, and monterey jack cheeses, black beans, pico de gallo, guacamole and cilantro-line sour cream. The Grande Nachos are available for free when you sign up for Matador’s free loyalty program.

Daily lunch specials at Matador run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday — that includes a soup, salad and entrée for $16.

Stadium Thriftway

This grocery store in the Stadium District offers deals each day at the deli. You can get a Stadium Burger for $7.99 on Sundays, a Crispy Chicken Sandwich for $6.99 on Mondays, the panini of the day for $7.99 on Tuesdays, a Jammin’ Yammin’ Burrito for $5.99 on Wednesdays, Stadium Thriftway’s Own Taco Salad for $6.99 on Thursdays, a Crispy Fish Sandwich for $4.99 on Fridays, and a Pulled Pork Sandwich for $7.99 on Saturdays.

This local sushi chain offers two all-you-can eat sushi deals at the sushi bar, dine-in only. The lunch special is $26.95 and the dinner special (which includes a larger variety of rolls and nigiri) is $36.95. Trapper’s Happy Hour also has some pretty good deals, including 50% off all appetizers, 50% off the bar menu and 25% off rolls. Happy hour runs 2-6 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 8 p.m. to close on Fridays and Saturdays. Plus, kids eat free on Sundays.
