South Sound pizza chain’s newest restaurant will have party room, patio
Farrelli’s Pizza, a family-owned chain based in DuPont with more than 500 employees, is expanding again — this time to Enumclaw.
The company recently announced that it has leased The Claw of Enumclaw, an event venue located just east of downtown off State Route 410, right next to the Enumclaw Expo Center. The newest Farrelli’s will serve the same menu of wood-fired pies key to the brand, established 1995 in Lacey, apps like stuffed mushrooms and baked chicken wings, hearty salads, soups and pastas. From the bar, under-$15 cocktails join macro and craft beer on tap, plus affordable PNW and California wines and nonalcoholic options.
Hours will be similar to most other locations (daily 11 a.m.-10 p.m., ‘til late on weekend nights). The brand’s generous happy hour — where you can snag 20% off any pizza of any size, $4 pints of Heidelberg and $6 classic cocktails — will run daily 2-6 p.m. and after 9 p.m.
Other pizzerias in Enumclaw include Cascade Pizza Co., which offers wood-fired pizza from a trailer next to Fills Growlers, Frankie’s Pizza and Il Siciliano Ristorante Italiano.
The Enumclaw addition will mark the second King County restaurant for Farrelli’s, which currently operates a dozen stores in the region, including six in Pierce and four in Thurston. In 2022, Farrelli’s added its first-ever Kitsap store in Silverdale. It also has a one-off concept, McNamara’s Pub, in DuPont.
Farrelli’s expanding to Enumclaw
Marketing director Clayton Kreuger, who began his Farrelli’s career washing dishes and bussing tables in 1997, said the company had been eyeing Enumclaw “for a while.”
“It’s a community that’s been growing, and we thought it was one that would be a great fit for our brand,” he told TNT Diner in a late April phone call.
The Claw had been operating as an event venue for many years, but the 1930s-era building has been home to restaurants and bars over the years, according to Kreuger. Property records show an LLC related to local real estate developer and former Enumclaw city councilman Darrell Dickson.
Already equipped with a commercial kitchen, a catering company had been renting the space, but the owner was nearing retirement, added Kreuger. With such a high-visibility address, Farrelli’s was “very aware” of The Claw’s proximity to new residential developments and the Expo Center, which hosts events year-round. It’s also “the last stop on the way out of town, or first stop on the way back into town,” he said.
The owners reached out to Farrelli’s, and they began renovating the space a few months ago.
“We are just looking to breathe new life into what has been a staple of that community,” said Kreuger.
Visitors to an event at The Claw will recognize the L-shaped bar and the “quirky element” that is a ‘50s-era police car towering above it.
“It’s been a staple of that building for as long as it’s been there,” said Kreuger. While it didn’t immediately click with the Farrelli’s brand, they didn’t hesitate on keeping it, he added. “We decided, ‘Hey, you know what? This is fun.’”
They also kept the existing commercial kitchen for prep but added a new open-concept pizza line, a feature of all of their restaurants. The rest of the 7,000 square feet was divided into a bar and lounge area that will seat around 75 people, two dining rooms that combined fit around 95, and a private party room with space for 44.
In total, the new Farrelli’s in Enumclaw will accommodate more than 200 guests — a number that doesn’t include a planned covered patio with fire pits and other perks for all-season outdoor dining.
Some employees from the Maple Valley restaurant already live in or near Enumclaw, added Kreuguer, and will split their time, bringing experience and familiarity with the brand along with them.
Kreuguer couldn’t share a firm opening date but said the team is hopeful to receive a final permit from Puget Sound Energy to upgrade the electrical system in May. From there, it will take just a few more weeks.
