Dining calendar: Japanese bake sale at Tacoma Buddhist Temple, beer and wine events
Here are a few events for your dining calendar.
TACOMA BUDDHIST TEMPLE BAZAAR
Japanese eats and treats will be on the menu — artwork, crafts and gifts also will be for sale — at the Tacoma Buddhist Temple’s Fall Food and Crafts Bazaar, from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free.
A menu of chicken teriyaki, rice curry and bowls of unagi (eel) with rice and udon noodle soup will be for sale. A bake sale will feature mochi, which are rice pastries filled with sweetened red beans, and a number of other treats made by temple members.

JUNIOR LEAGUE OF TACOMA TASTING EVENT
The Junior League of Tacoma is hosting Wine and Stein 2015, a fundraiser for the organization.
The event begins at 5 p.m. Nov. 7 at Cheney Stadium, and includes wine, beer and spirits tastings, plus food and live music. Participating wineries include Januik Winery, Novelty Hill Winery, Patterson Cellars, RoxyAnn Winery, Saviah Cellars, Sleight of Hand Cellars and W.T. Vinters. Breweries include Harmon Brewing Co., 7 Seas Brewing, Silver City Brewery, Samuel Adams and Deschutes Brewery. Heritage Distilling Co. will also serve its spirits. BEER DINNER AT THE SWISS
Tacoma tavern The Swiss will host a beer pairing dinner at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 18. Chef Jacob Thacker will pair four courses with six beers from New Belgium Brewing. The menu includes wild mushroom croquettes, a cheese gratin, roasted pork belly and dessert (hint: it involves salted caramel — in both beer and dessert sauce).
