Brunch service begins at 3 Tacoma restaurants

Perfect over-easy eggs were a hallmark of the brunch service at Smoke + Cedar, which closed in 2015. Owner Gordon Naccarato will resurrect brunch service in March at his other restaurant, Pacific Grill. Menu details coming soon.

Brunch, apparently, is becoming Tacoma’s most desirable meal.

Three restaurants are beginning weekend brunch service. Take a look.

THE TABLE

2715 Sixth Ave., Tacoma; 253-327-1862; thetabletacoma.com.

Brunch served: 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturdays-Sundays.

Derek Bray’s Sixth Avenue dinner-only eatery, which opened in July 2015, is expanding to weekend brunch service this weekend. Featured on the menu will be pork belly and grits ($12); a Benedict ($15) made with duck and pork sausage; sweet potato hash ($12); sausage gravy pot pie ($14); and fried chicken with gravy ($12). A children’s menu ($8-$12) and breakfast cocktails made with wine and beer ($8-$15) are also offered.

CROWN BAR

2705 Sixth Ave., Tacoma; 253-272-4177; crownbartacoma.com. 21 and older only.

Brunch served: 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Fridays-Sundays.

Christina Smyre bought the longtime Sixth Avenue haunt, Crown Bar, in December and promptly added lunch in January. February brought weekend brunch. On the menu is pork belly hash ($10); biscuits and sausage gravy ($12); eggs Benedict with candied bacon or crab ($12); savory crepes ($8); and skillet cinnamon rolls ($7.50). There’s also a breakfast cocktail menu ($8-$13).

PACIFIC GRILL

1502 Pacific Ave., Tacoma; 253-627-3535; pacificgrilltacoma.com.

Brunch coming: March.

Gordon Naccarato’s Smoke + Cedar, which operated from March 2014 to October 2015 at the Allenmore Golf Course, collected a fan following for its brunch service. Naccarato has plans once again to offer brunch. Find it sometime in March at his downtown Tacoma restaurant, Pacific Grill.

MARROW

2717 Sixth Ave., Tacoma; 253-267-5299; marrowtacoma.com. 21 and older only.

Brunch served: 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturdays-Sundays.

Sunday-only brunch service at Sixth Avenue’s Marrow has expanded to Saturdays. The menu includes chicken and malted waffles ($19), a croque madame ($14) and what I consider the city’s best crab Benedict ($18).
