Pao’s Donuts is closing, but don’t panic. It’s only temporary.

The longtime Narrows neighborhood bakery will temporary close Feb. 22 for what owner Pao Lo hopes will be only a week of plumbing repairs.

“If things go smoothly, it takes about a week,” he said of the project, which will update all the plumbing from the kitchen to the bathrooms.

Worst-case scenario? He said a month, but he’s hoping that doesn’t happen. “You never know what’s going to happen when you have to put the floor back in,” he noted.

The cash-only bakery is an anchor in that neighborhood and a popular doughnut haunt. My favorite Pao’s doughnut is the apple fritter.

Find updates on the bakery’s Facebook page.
