Easter basket finds: Chocolates from Tacoma candy companies
If the chocolate bunnies don’t suck you in, the cream eggs will.
A trip to Johnson Candy Co. in Tacoma’s Hilltop neighborhood this week found Easter treasures aplenty: chocolate-covered marshmallow chicks; tiny butter mints in pretty pastels; cream-filled eggs with both dark and milk chocolate coatings and bags of jelly beans and licorice.
Behind the glass case, where the hand-dipped chocolates and truffles are kept, I found orange cream bunnies; peanut butter-filled bunnies and white chocolate bunnies with chocolate ganache.
Solid chocolate bunnies were made with milk or dark chocolate. Sugar-free options are to the right of the front register.
Wrapped packages and baskets are available for quick purchase. And, as always, staffers will hand-wrap, free, whatever you’ve purchased from the candy counter.
