NEW GENERAL MANAGER AT EL GAUCHO

Consider this a coming home for new El Gaucho Tacoma general manager Stephanie Keyt. Her first job with El Gaucho was bartending at the Tacoma steakhouse. That was in 2007. Now she’s the general manager in Tacoma, but she’s held a number of El Gaucho positions, including server, bookkeeper, captain and events director.

The 1999 Mount Tahoma High School graduate and Tacoma native has always worked in hospitality, with about half her career at El Gaucho, the other half at several Ram Restaurants. “Being back in the community here feels full circle to me. I’m excited to back where I started,” said Keyt, whose husband, Dasha Mulein, also works for El Gaucho. They have two children and live in SeaTac. Find more information about Keyt here.

HERITAGE DISTILLING CO. WINS 25 MEDALS

Gig Harbor-based Heritage Distilling Co. took home 25 medals this month from the 2016 Craft Spirits Conference hosted by the American Distilling Institute.

Talk about cleaning up — the distillery won more awards than any other craft distillery in North America for 2016. And it’s the third year in a row the distillery has done that.

The medals span eight categories and include two “Best of Class” medals and six “Best of Category” awards. For a complete list of the awards, click here.

FARRELLI’S PIZZA WINS EXPO AWARD

South Sound-based Farrelli’s Pizza won an award for the Best Pizza in the nine-state Northwest Region at the International Pizza Expo in Las Vegas last month.

And now you can try the award-winning pizza through the rest of the month at all Farrelli’s locations. (Pierce County locations include Tacoma, Parkland, Sumner, DuPont and Frederickson.) The Northwest Traditional Pizza is topped with fresh basil leaves, thick-cut pepperoni and house-made Italian sausage, then finished with a drizzle of honey cream cheese sauce.
