Katseye Addresses Manon Bannerman's Hiatus, Hints at What's Next
The remaining members of Katseye have spoken out about Manon Bannerman's continued hiatus from the girl group.
"Because we did announce that it is about her well-being, it's not our place or anybody else's place to rush her," Sophia Laforteza told Allurein a cover story published Thursday, June 25. "We want to give her all the time that she needs, all the space that she needs, and so we don't want to make any assumptions, set anything in stone."
She continued, "She really deserves that and the door is always open."
Sophia, 23, is one-sixth of the original Katseye lineup, which included Daniela Avanzini, Lara Raj, Megan Skiendiel, Yoonchae Jeung and Manon, 23, who took a "temporary hiatus" from the band in February. A source confirmed to Us Weeklyin April that Manon had no plans to return.
Manon scrubbed any mention of Katseye from her social media profiles, but she has not publicly discussed her future with the musical group.
"We love her and the fans love her. The people love her. They love Katseye," Sophia added to Allure, addressing fan interest in Bannerman's Katseye tenure. "If I was in their place I would be asking too, and so we understand."
She concluded, "What we can say is that we wish that you could just keep extending love and support and patience and all those things, because all of us deserve that. Anybody does."
Katseye has continued performing without Manon, with appearances at Coachella and the 2026 American Music Awards, plus they are working on new music.
"With every release that we put out, the more authentic and raw it gets to us," Megan, 20, teased to Allure of the band's upcoming album, WILD.
In addition to making music together, the Katseye girls stress that they are tight-knit friends.
"We're not faking it, we really are best friends," Sophia stated. "They know everything about me, and because we're with each other all the time, we don't see each other as workmates. We see each other as literal family. We really are sisters. We really are friends that hang out. [They will be] my f***ing bridesmaids. It's insane."
Megan chimed in, "By then, we'll have our own children and our children will be each other's flower girls."
Manon, for her part, briefly addressed her departure in a statement earlier this year.
"I want you to hear this from me, I'm healthy, I'm OK and I'm taking care of myself," she wrote via WeVerse in February. "Thank u for checking in! Sometimes things unfold in ways we don't fully control, but I'm trusting the bigger picture. Thank you for standing by me. I love you endlessly and can't wait to see you again."
