There is a new moose on the loose at Northwest Trek, here is how to see it
A moose calf will be making his public debut this weekend at Northwest Trek Wildlife Park.
Birch, a 5-month-old moose calf, arrived in early November from the Alaska Zoo and was recently introduced to the Free-Roaming Area of the park.
Birch is the second moose at the park, joining Aspen, a 5-year-old female moose.
“Aspen will teach Birch how to be a moose here at Northwest Trek,” said keeper Skylar King. “She will show him where to find the best food, which plants are her favorites to eat, where to get water, and how to interact with the other animals in our Free-Roaming Area.”
The young calf weighs about 295 pounds and is 5 feet tall. An adult bull moose can grow to 1,200 pounds and more than 7 feet high, according to King.
Last May, Northwest Trek introduced Wild Drive, letting people drive their own cars through the wildlife park.
