Albertsons returns to Milton with Wednesday celebration

Milton shoppers get to mark the return of their Albertsons grocery store this week.

The store, 2800 Milton Way, will start its grand opening celebration at 8 a.m. Wednesday with live music, cake, prizes and local dignitaries in attendance.

The store employs 109, including 45 former Albertsons employees and the store’s former pharmacy staff, according to a company news release.

The store used to be in the Albertsons chain, then was converted to a Haggen store in May 2015 during Haggen’s failed expansion bid. Later that year, most of the stores were repurchased by Albertsons/Safeway after Haggen entered bankruptcy proceedings.
