Another grocery chain making inroads into the Puget Sound area is continuing its expansion.

On Thursday, Sprouts Farmers Market announced the opening dates next year of two new stores, one in Silverdale and one in Seattle.

The Silverdale Sprouts, 11066 Pacific Crest Place NW, is set to open 7 a.m. March 18, while the Seattle store at 13010 Aurora Avenue N. will open 7 a.m. April 15.

The Silverdale site is in The Trails At Silverdale shopping center, which includes Total Wine & More and HomeGoods, among other retailers and restaurants.

Plans for that site were originally announced in August. According to The Kitsap Sun, the shopping center has been working on attracting a grocer since 2015.

Sprouts openings, much like other new brands’ grocery openings, are known for attracting big opening day crowds and has an active following on social media.

Its first store in Washington state opened in August 2018 in Mill Creek.

It later opened a second store in Lynnwood. The two new sites will give Sprouts four locations in the state.

Neighborhoods throughout Washington have been asking for a Sprouts since we first entered the market two years ago,” said Jim Wallace, senior vice president of store operations.

The stores are known for discount prices on organics and an emphasis on “health and value.”

Both stores also plan hiring fairs early next year. The Sprouts Silverdale hiring event will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 12-13 at Oxford Suites Silverdale, 9550 Silverdale Way NW, Silverdale.

The Seattle hiring event will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 4-5, at Embassy Suites Seattle North Lynnwood, 20610 44th Ave. W., Lynnwood.

UPDATE, MARCH 12: Sprouts, in a statement sent March 12, has postponed the store openings to a date to be determined. “Due to the recent developments of COVID-19 in Washington state and the surrounding counties, Sprouts has postponed the opening of its Silverdale and Seattle stores. The health and safety of our team members and shoppers is always our first priority, and we are actively monitoring local developments to determine the most appropriate next steps.”
