Newest senior living site for Tacoma set to show off its waterfront apartments
Tacoma’s newest retirement community is ready for the public to come see what it has to offer, including waterfront views.
GenCare Lifestyle at Point Ruston, 4970 Main St., Tacoma, markets itself as a “wellness-focused” retirement community and offers 159 units, including active-living and assisted-living studios, one- and two-bedroom units.
The site also has 24 memory care suites and a secure outdoor patio.
There’s also an onsite hair salon and bistro.
The location will hold its grand opening celebration from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 21, where attendees can meet the chef and culinary team, the personal trainer and tour the gym and indoor pool. The onsite wellness team will be on hand, and people can learn more about the site’s healthcare “concierge” services for those needing more extensive care.
Ahead of the grand opening, there will be a reception and ribbon cutting that the public also can attend starting at 9:30 a.m.
Attendees also can learn more about its mobile urgent care partner DispatchHealth, which offers urgent care services to the residents in their apartments.
The site’s vitality team also will discuss its programs (games, dancing and continual learning) to stimulate brain health for residents.
It is the sixth GenCare Lifestyle location to open in the area, described on its website as “where baby boomers thrive with purpose,” with other locations in Seattle, Granite Falls, Lynnwood, Renton and Federal Way.
It’s also more evidence of senior living upgrades in the area, with sites such as Franke Tobey Jones recently expanding its campus with a new nearly nearly 65,000-square-foot care center offering skilled nursing and memory care.
Just under 14 percent of Pierce County residents are ages 65 and older, according to Census data from July.
Move-in day for the first residents of GenCare is planned for early February.
Those wishing to attend are encouraged to RSVP event organizers by calling 253-203-6460 or email ngonzalez@gencare-inc.com.
