Layoffs for Comcast employees as company cuts Puyallup tech division
Comcast is cutting its ranks in the South Sound with layoffs in its technical division in Puyallup.
The state’s Employment Security Department on Wednesday announced the layoffs via a WARN announcement, which listed 52 workers affected, with the layoffs starting April 3.
Andy Colley, communications director for Comcast Washington Region, told The News Tribune in response to questions via email that the cuts are the result of “changes to our technical operations and supply chain processes.”
“This includes consolidating some job functions and locations and also automating some processes so our technicians can best serve our customers,” Colley said. “We will work with all impacted employees to evaluate their options, including helping them to find other positions within the company or providing outplacement assistance and severance.”
Colley added that it is Comcast’s goal “to retain as many employees as possible. We’ll work with impacted employees to evaluate their options. These options include moving to a location where their current job function will now be performed with relocation assistance. These locations include Denver (Colorado) and/or Everett. The employees may also apply for other roles within Comcast or take a severance package.”
