After postponed initial launch, Sprouts announces opening date of Silverdale grocery

After postponing its scheduled March launch date after the outbreak of the coronavirus, an area grocer on Wednesday announced a new opening day.

Sprouts will open its first store outside of the immediate Seattle metro area at 7 a.m. April 8 in Silverdale.

The store address is 11066 Pacific Crest Place NW, in The Trails at Silverdale shopping center.

“We’re in this together, Silverdale,” said Sprouts chief operations officer Dan Sanders in a Wednesday announcement. “We’re eager to provide you and your families access to the healthy grocery essentials you need during these unprecedented times as quickly as we can.”

The Silverdale store will operate under new adjusted hours of 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.

According to the grocer: “The store anticipates receiving daily deliveries to stay well-stocked, but certain items might not be available on opening day in an effort to open as soon as possible.”

Sanders noted that Sprouts stores have suspended self-service stations, such as olive bars, salad bars, soup bars and bulk item dispensers during the outbreak, but prepackaged items will be made available in those areas.

Sprouts says it is following CDC and local health authority guidelines related to COVID-19, and, along with stepped up cleaning, will have clear plastic barriers in place at store registers, in line with measures also adopted by other grocers in the area.

Sprouts’ first store in Washington state opened in August 2018 in Mill Creek. It later opened a second store in Lynnwod. The opening date of another store in Seattle is still to be determined.
