Need a job? FedEx hiring hundreds in Tacoma area
Shipping service FedEx announced that week that unprecedented levels of business has opened the door to a new push to hire 400 people in the Tacoma area.
“FedEx Ground continues to experience a surge of package volume due to e-commerce growth, and we are hiring team members ... to help us continue to power commerce during this time of need,” the company said in a news release.
The company is hiring package handlers to work at sites in Fife and Auburn.
Day and night shifts are available.
The jobs, include a full suite of benefits ”after completion of an eligibility period,” according to the job posting. Along with health benefits, other perks include tuition reimbursement and tuition assistance, paid parental leave, employee discounts on cell phone service, groceries, car purchases and more.
According to the job posting for the Fife positions, the jobs start at $15.50 an hour, with step pay progression of 30 days, six months and one year. Workers become eligible for benefits after 1,000 hours and paid time off after 90 days. Tuition reimbursement is available after 60 days, up to $1,500.
