Physical therapy office in Tacoma closes, blames costs, declining reimbursements
Another business in Tacoma has come to the end of its run, and not because of the pandemic.
North End Physical Therapy, 3007 Sixth Ave., has shuttered after 11 years.
Carter Peckham, who founded the practice, told The News Tribune via email that many reasons contributed to the closure.
“My husband and I had made the difficult decision to close after 11 years for many reasons,” Peckham said. “Despite having a thriving practice with many loyal and repeat patients, we just felt that the future in health care looks grim.”
Reasons Peckham cited were “the high cost of living in the Pacific Northwest” along with “excessive taxes, declining reimbursements in health care, the skyrocketing costs of private health insurance and malpractice insurance,” among other issues.
“We were also not loving the explosive growth in Tacoma and seeing the loss of its character so quickly,” Peckham added.
Patients who have already received a referral to Peckham should contact their provider for another recommendation.
Former patients or representatives of patients in need of medical records can request them in writing via email to eric@northendphysicaltherapy.com or fax 253-761-7796.
