New bank now open at Tacoma Brewery Blocks; McKinley Avenue shop announces opening
Brewery Blocks Tacoma has a new full-service bank on site.
First Citizens Bank opened Monday (Aug. 2) at 2108 Commerce St., relocating from its Fircrest location.
The 7,700-square-foot branch will provide individual and business services.
“We’re excited to serve the people and businesses at our beautiful new Tacoma office,” said area executive Matt Green in Monday’s announcement. “The Brewery Blocks location allows us to be a part of an important renewal of Tacoma’s downtown, and we look forward to providing banking services in a convenient, central location for both current and prospective customers.”
The space was designed by Ferguson Architects of Tacoma and features the original Douglas fir columns and wood ceilings, according to Monday’s release.
In addition to the Brewery Blocks site, First Citizens operates six locations in the Puget Sound area and has more than 500 branches in 19 states.
Camp Colvos Brewing opened at Brewery Blocks in early July, and Dancing Goats Coffee Bar has plans to open later this summer, according to Monday’s update.

PARABLE SETS OPENING DATE
Parable boutique, 3502 McKinley Ave., Suite A (former site of Tacoma Lamp Repair) has announced an opening date of Aug. 21.
The boutique will offer plants, books, clothing, products from local artists and more. It also will double as a community space for live events, children’s programs and workshops.
Parable is a family operation, with Deatria (Dee Dee) Williams and her cousins LaKecia Farmer and Le’Ecia Farmer all co-owners.
They turned to crowdfunding earlier this year to help get the store space renovated and launched.
“We are excited to finally open after an outpouring of community involvement and support,” LaKecia Farmer wrote in a Monday email to The News Tribune. “Through donations, loans, market sales, online sales, and just overall support, we are able to do renovations and stock up in a timely manner.”
As part of the opening, Farmer wrote: “We are even doing a pre-sale for the grand opening where you pick the retail amount and we curate a handpicked box for you made of art, artisan products, records, plants and books.”
Beyond the retail side, they wanted to emphasize the community aspect of the site.
“Plans are for music and food and to invite our neighborhood in a safe manner,” Farmer added.
