An upcoming job fair might hold appeal for those wishing to work on submarines.

The Trident Refit Facility, Bangor, in Silverdale is the primary maintenance facility on the West Coast for the U.S. Navy’s ballistic missile submarine fleet.

In a news release this week, the site announced it will hold a job fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 5 and 6 at Newlife Event Center, 9923 Poplars Ave. NW, Silverdale.

“We are always looking to hire quality people,” said Mike Carpentier, repair superintendent for the facility, in the release. “We are hiring in almost all types of industrial trades from mooring line handlers to electricians and from sheet metal workers to information technology professionals.”

Carpentier added, “Basically if you have a background or interest in mechanical, electricity, fabrication or computing and you want to join a team critical to our nation’s defense, we look forward to meeting you at our job fair.”

According to the release, the site’s main work is to “support the nation’s strategic deterrence mission by repairing, incrementally overhauling, and modernizing the Ohio-class and the future Columbia-class until the end of service life.”

The team is comprised of approximately 500 military personnel and 1,500 civilians.
