A restaurant chain has plans for the old Shari’s on Union Avenue. Here’s what we know
A new IHOP is coming to Tacoma.
The restaurant will fill the building formerly occupied by Shari’s Cafe and Pies, 2323 S. Union Ave. That Shari’s closed in January 2022.
IHOP’s opening date is scheduled for late September or early October, according to a company representative on May 30. Details about hours of operation and an opening date for the new location were not available.
A permit issued last month by the City of Tacoma shows IHOP is planning an interior remodel, with new kitchen equipment and replacement of existing booths and seating. A permit to replace the heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems also was issued.
The projects are estimated to cost $131,000, and the interior remodel will start Aug. 1, according to permitting documents.
IHOP, known for its wide variety of pancakes and other diner fare, has several locations in and around Tacoma, including in Lakewood and Puyallup.
