A California-based national tools and accessories chain is coming to Auburn.

Harbor Freight announced this week that it plans to open a new store at 202 Cross St. SE, in the Auburn Shopping Center. The spot formerly was home to a MultiCare Urgent Care clinic.

The opening date is to be determined, with the chain noting the opening is planned for “this winter.”

Construction has started, “using local workers and companies from the surrounding Auburn area,” Harbor Freight stated in Tuesday’s release.

“We’ve been looking to open a location in Auburn for a number of years so that we can provide the tools and equipment at tremendous values to the community,” Trey Feiler, senior vice president, Real Estate and Construction for Harbor Freight, said in a statement.

The store expects to bring 25 to 30 new jobs, “including Sales and Logistics Supervisors, Senior Associates, Sales Associates, and seasonal opportunities as well.”

Interested applicants can apply online at Harbor Freight’s job site and search “Auburn, WA”.

Harbor Freight has made multiple investments in the area, including leasing distribution center operations at the FRED310 in Frederickson, and operating stores in Tacoma, Puyallup, Lakewood among its more than 30 stores in the state.
