South Sound Business People: Hires and business awards
▪ Franco D’Amico has been hired as general manager of Pacific Grill, part of the Naccarato Restaurant Group in Tacoma. He has worked at Raven & Rose, First National Taphouse, The Sidebar and El Goucho in Portland. He was also the executive dining room manager at Teatro ZinZanni and has hotel operations experience with Hyatt Hotel and Resort.
▪ James Hammond, director of sales for New Tacoma Cemeteries and Funeral Home, recently served as the new dean to the College of International Studies, a part of the International Cemeteries, Crematoriums and Funeral Home Association. He has been an instructor for 12 years at the college and has been in the end-of-life profession for 28 years.
▪ Bill Pratt, from Puyallup and a managing partner for Modern Woodmen of America, has attained the Certified Fraternal Field Manager designation. The Fraternal Field Managers Association and Kinder Brothers International offer the designation, which has 10 sections, including planning for desired results, communicating effectively, recruiting winners and enhancing leadership skills.
▪ The Grand Cinema has recently announced Katy Evans and Wade Neal as its new assistant executive directors. Their roles will allow for an expansion of efforts to better serve the membership base and pursue strategic development plans and focused grant writing that will enable the theater to look at expanding its educational programs and community events. Their duties will also include helping manage and oversee staff development and the day-to-day work of facility operations.
