Discount outdoor-gear retailer to open store near Tacoma. Here are details
A discount outdoor-outfitting store that is part of the TJ Maxx group of retail brands is holding its grand opening at its third location in Washington state this weekend.
Sierra’s new store will hold its grand opening starting 8 a.m. Saturday, May 17, at 1209 S. 320th St. in Sunset Square shopping center in Federal Way.
The retailer’s other locations in the state are in Silverdale at The Trails at Silverdale and in Bellingham at Cordata Center.
The store sells children’s and adult active and outdoor gear, including apparel, footwear and gear sold at discounts over department and specialty store prices.
The retailer originally was known as Sierra Trading Post until its name change to Sierra in 2018. It has 125 stores nationwide.
Saturday’s event to celebrate the new 18,000-square-foot store will include music from a local DJ, Sierra-branded giveaways and more.
“We’re thrilled to bring even more Washington residents Sierra’s off-price shopping experience with the opening of our third store in the state,” said Amanda Johnson, assistant vice president, marketing director for Sierra, in a statement. “At Sierra, our goal is to bring communities amazing savings on the active apparel, footwear and gear they need to make the most of the activities they love doing every day.”
Regular hours are Monday through Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and Sunday 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Sierra also is hiring new full- and part-time store associates for the new site. Visit jobs.tjx.com to learn more.
