Rite Aid, Bartell Drugs closures expand, including in Tacoma. Here’s an update
One day after The News Tribune published a list of Rite Aid/Bartell drugstores closing, attorneys for Rite Aid entered a list of another 111 stores nationwide that will shutter, including one in Tacoma.
Eleven stores in Washington were added in the latest list submitted to U.S. Bankruptcy Court in the District of New Jersey on May 30, including the Bartell Drugs at 1850 S. Mildred St.
Other locations added to the list include stores in Mount Vernon, Sequim, Seattle, Moses Lake, Bremerton, Oak Harbor, Pullman, Port Angeles and two in Everett — one Rite Aid and one Bartell Drugs.
Previous closures announced include Auburn, Maple Valley (Bartell Drugs), Milton, Port Orchard and University Place (3840 Bridgeport Way W.)
Other closures listed have included stores in Anacortes, Ephrata, Granite Falls, Kingston, North Bend, Omak, Snoqualmie and Yelm.
Sites that remain on Rite Aid’s website as open in Pierce County include two stores in Tacoma (1912 N. Pearl St. and 7041 Pacific Ave.) stores in Bonney Lake, Lakewood and Spanaway and four locations in Puyallup. Bartell will have two sites remaining in Pierce County (one in Tacoma, one in Gig Harbor).
As for the sites remaining, CVS Pharmacy has previously announced it is taking on 64 Rite Aid stores in Idaho, Oregon, and Washington.
