New Puyallup restaurant to offer chili cheese dogs, Chicago dogs, corn dogs

Shoppers at the Puyallup Walmart will soon be able to enjoy a hot dog on the go.

A Wienerschnitzel is slated to open inside the store within the next week, taking the spot of the old McDonald’s.

The national fast-food chain serves hot dogs and burgers, along with other bites like fries and milkshakes.

Sharon Baker, one of the owners of the incoming Wienerschnitzel, said she had hoped to open up shop by the end of this week, but Monday is a more likely opening date since the permit still needs to be signed.

The menu at the Puyallup location will be the same as other locations, including items like chili cheese dogs, Chicago dogs and corn dogs.

Part of a national pilot program, this Wienerschnitzel will be only the second Walmart location in the country, behind Tempe, Arizona. But more will be coming.

Baker, who also owns the Wienerschnitzel restaurants in Everett and Fife, said the chain is looking at opening another location in the Chehalis Walmart.

More Wienerschnitzel locations may pop up in Washington outside of Walmart, too. Baker said her son Domenic, who co-owns the stores, wants to reach at least five Wienerschnitzel locations throughout the state.

The Puyallup Wienerschnitzel will be at 310 31st Ave. SE. Hours are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day.
