Gaming lounge opens, swim school chain adds Tacoma location, and restaurant news

Washington’s first 21+ console-only gaming lounge opened in Auburn on Jan. 3.

Unlike bar arcades that usually have pinball and other arcade games, Final Boss Game Lounge features retro gaming consoles that are hard to find anywhere else, like the Commodore 64 and the Nintendo 64.

Owner Kayla Rodriguez said she thought Auburn was lacking spaces for people in their 20s, 30s, and 40s to hang out and make new friends.

Final Boss Game Lounge is at 402 16th St. NE, A108, Auburn. Hours are 6 p.m. - 2 a.m. Thursday through Saturday, and 6 p.m. - 12 a.m. on Sunday.

Longtime Tacoma cafe closes downtown, new location possible

Lucky Penny Cafe closed on Dec. 19 after over a decade of serving downtown Tacoma.

The cafe was inside the Tacoma World Trade Center, also known as the Commerce Building.

The menu included a variety of coffee, sandwiches and other dishes like bibimbap and fried rice.

The cafe might be moving to another location on Tacoma Avenue South, but the owners said they still aren’t sure what they’re going to do, The News Tribune previously reported.
