Sorry, Jack in the Box fans, but you’ve lost another location in the South Sound.

Jack in the Box, 1275 Center Drive, DuPont, is no longer in operation, though it’s unclear when it closed.

The last Google review from a week ago states, “nothing there... .”

Its business listing on Google is marked, “Permanently closed.”

The location also does not appear on the Jack in the Box location page, and the phone line to the site Tuesday went to an automated Jack in the Box voice message stating it had determined the call was a “robo-call, spam or scam.”

Jack in the Box corporate representatives also did not respond to requests for comment from The News Tribune.

Barbara Kincaid is public services director for community development for the City of DuPont. In an emailed response to questions from The News Tribune, Kincaid wrote, “We have heard and observed that Jack in the Box is closed. We do not know when it closed and haven’t had any discussion with property owners/management about what may go in next.”

Kincaid added, “We do know that 7-Eleven is planning to move into the Chevron store and gas station. But no word about the Jack in the Box.”

The latest closure comes more than a year after several Jack in the Box closures in the Tacoma-Lakewood area, reported by The News Tribune in the fall of 2024.

Tacoma still has five Jack in the Box locations. Several more remain in various locations in Pierce County, including Bonney Lake, Graham, Lakewood, Puyallup, Sumner, Tillicum and University Place.

The chain features burgers, tacos, chicken, breakfast items and more on its menu.

Jack in the Box’s “Jack on Track” plan, launched last year, made closing restaurants a key part of its restructuring. The plan called for shuttering 150 to 200 underperforming restaurants, with most closing by the end of last year, and the rest following close behind “based upon respective franchise agreement termination dates,” according to the plan.

According to its fourth-quarter earnings report published in November, “Jack in the Box opened 15 new restaurants, and closed 47 restaurants during the fourth quarter. Of these, 38 of the 47 closures were part of the ‘Jack on Track’ block restaurant closure program. For fiscal year 2025, Jack in the Box opened 31 new restaurants, and closed 86 restaurants.”
