The TNT’s ultimate guide to thrifting in Tacoma, by neighborhood

For those that like to bargain hunt, Tacoma is a pretty good town to do so.

There are nearly two dozen thrift stores across the city, and that’s not including the densely populated Antique Row.

Whether you’re looking for vintage clothing, cheap decor, or secondhand furniture, there are quite a few places to explore.

Here’s a guide to Tacoma’s thrift stores, sorted by neighborhood.

North End

Megs & Mo Upscale Resale

This consignment shop in Proctor features secondhand clothing and accessories, with both modern and vintage items. You might come upon secondhand Frye boots, Lululemon wristlets or Coach handbags.

American Cancer Society Discovery Shop

This shop, also in Proctor, offers secondhand clothing, jewelry, art, antiques and more. Proceeds go to the American Cancer Society, a nonprofit supporting individuals and families impacted by cancer.

The Tacoma Flea

This vintage market is only open one weekend a month, but it has quite a lot to offer. Setting up in the Waterfront Market at Point Ruston, the flea market takes up 10,000 square feet with around 60 vendors. You can find vintage and secondhand clothes, home decor, jewelry and more. There’s also a whole section for vintage handbags.

Sixth Ave/Central

Mission Thrift East

Mission Thrift, with another store in Tacoma’s West End, supports the Tacoma Rescue Mission, a nonprofit supporting people experiencing homelessness throughout Pierce County. Mission thrift has an assortment of donated items, like clothes, furniture, accessories, home decor and furniture.

Scorpio Rising

This vintage shop on Sixth Ave. sells quite a diverse selection of secondhand clothing, with everything from ‘60s-era dresses to cut-off Levis. You’ll also find an especially large variety of graphic tees, with a focus on vintage band tees.

Good Vibes Vintage & Resale

This small thrift store isn’t hard to find, with a bright pink storefront. Inside, customers will find racks of resale clothing, ranging from the 1960s to the 2000s, according to Good Vibes’ social media. Good Vibes also has jewelry and knickknacks.

Nothin’ New

This shop in Central Tacoma sells secondhand clothing, so literally “nothing new.” Customers will find vintage band tees, jewelry and more. Nothin’ New also hosts many local vendors, offering items like handmade goods and repurposed clothing.

West End

Mission Thrift West

This store is Mission Thrift’s second location, serving the same purpose of supporting the Tacoma Rescue Mission. Mission Thrift offers donated items like clothes, furniture, accessories, home decor and furniture.

Tacoma Goodwill - North

This national chain of thrift stores has four locations in Tacoma, including this one in the West End. You can find clothes, accessories, shoes, furniture, decor, tech and more.

Downtown

Pure Vintage Clothing

This vintage shop, connected to King’s Books, offers clothing, jewelry, handbags and other accessories, plus some friendly cats. Along with items you can wear, Pure Vintage has bins of old records.

The LoveT Boutique

This small thrift and consignment inside Freighthouse Square offers a mix of modern, vintage and Y2K clothing and accessories, according to its Instagram. The store is restocked regularly.

Hope Furnishings

This resale furniture store works with Northwest Furniture Bank, which supplies furniture to those in need. Hope Furnishings offers new, used and vintage furniture, with revenue going toward the furniture bank.

Antique Row

  • Broadway, from South 9th Street to South 7th Street

Antique Row gets its own section on this list, since it’s packed with stores selling thrifted, secondhand and vintage items. Just walk up and down Broadway to see what Antique Row has in store — you can find everything from vintage leather jackets to old comic books to quirky home decor.

This thrift shop in Midland offers secondhand clothing, furniture, appliances and more.

Upcycled Cottage

This store in Midland is inside a farmhouse. Inside, you’ll find a curated collection of vintage and antique clothing, accessories, furniture and decor.

The Egg and I Resale

This shop has a wide selection of secondhand children’s clothing, maternity wear and baby gear, including strollers, beds, carriers and more. There are also kids toys and books.

South Tacoma

Goodwill Outlet:

While the Goodwill locations on South Hosmer Street and South 38th Street are your run-of-the-mill Goodwill stores, the Goodwill Outlet is a bit different. Known as the Goodwill “bins,” the store is filled with bins stuffed with everything you’d find at a regular Goodwill — clothing, tech, decor, books, records, etc. — and customers pay by the pound.

St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store

This thrift store, run by the St. Vincent de Paul charity, offers secondhand clothing, furniture, household goods and more. Proceeds go toward St. Vincent de Paul’s mission of helping those facing crisis, instability or homelessness.

Habitat for Humanity Store

At the Tacoma Habitat for Humanity Store, you’ll find secondhand (and new) home goods and furniture, like bed frames, desks, decor, rugs and outdoor equipment, plus tools like saws and hammers.

The Hoarders Attic Thrift Shop

The Hoarders Attic offers a variety of secondhand items, including clothing, toys, books, household goods, antiques and collectibles.

Tacoma Thrift Store

Tacoma Thrift Store is run by Good Works Ministries, a Tacoma charity that works to help the less fortunate. The thrift store offers secondhand clothing and household items.
