Overview
The 2025 Chevrolet Suburban is a full-size SUV that can seat up to nine passengers, and the nameplate can trace its history back through 12 generations and 90 years. The modern-day Suburban comes in six trim levels - LS, LT, RST, Z71, Premier, and High Country - and can be had with three engines: a 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder turbodiesel or naturally aspirated 5.3- or 6.2-liter V8s. This big body-on-frame SUV targets large families that need maximum cabin space and/or substantial towing capability.
What's New for 2025?
The 12th generation has been around since 2020, so the 2025 Suburban gets a comprehensive refresh. The restyled exterior gets a boxier front end, a bigger grille, redesigned LED headlights, DRLs, and taillights, and new wheel designs, up to 24 inches in size. Lakeshore Blue Metallic and Cypress Gray are added to the paint palette.
Chassis and steering tweaks improve handling and ride comfort, and the diesel engine is uprated from 277 hp/460 lb-ft to 305 hp/495 lb-ft. This engine is now also offered on the Z71 trim. The gas V8s carry over unchanged.
Inside, a new 17.7-inch touchscreen and 11-inch digital gauge cluster are standard, and the cabin design and materials have been updated. The availability of Super Cruise hands-free driving is expanded to all trims except the LS and Z71, and there are more towing-assist features, while remote vehicle monitoring is now possible via the Connected Camera feature.
The 2025 Chevrolet Suburban's price starts at $62,500 for the base 2WD LS trim.
Exterior
The Suburban is huge at 226.3 inches long, but its refresh keeps it modern. The new fascias, grilles, and bumpers differ according to trim. LED headlights are standard, with available lighting animations on upper trims. LS and LT trims have 18-inch alloys, but 20s feature higher up the range, and sizes of 22 and 24 inches are offered on top trims. The Z71 gets a high-clearance fascia and a skid plate, while the RST has a monochromatic black grille and gloss-black 22-inch wheels. A power liftgate is standard, and an AutoSense liftgate that opens when the key fob is near is optional on the top trims.
Interior
The Suburban's cabin is all about space, with three seating rows and seats for up to nine people. Even with all the seats in use, there's 41.5 cu-ft of luggage space on offer, which swells to a huge 144.5 cu-ft maximum with both rear rows folded. Cloth seats on the LS make way for leather front seats or full-leather interiors on top trims. The new 11-inch digital gauge cluster is accompanied by a 17.7-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on all trims.

Verdict
The Chevrolet Suburban is everything a full-size SUV should be. It gives you a choice of 355-hp or 420-hp gas V8, or an economical, high-torque turbo-diesel that gets up to 23 mpg combined, and 640 miles on a tank. It's huge inside too, with over 40 cu-ft of cargo space with all the seats up, and a maximum of over 144 cu-ft.
With a maximum of 8,300 pounds of towing capability, this is an immensely capable SUV with an attractive $62K entry price, but you should spend $3K more on the LT to get the sweetest deal with leather front seats, the big dual displays, and more. It's built for comfort, not speed, but is a worthy adversary to the Expedition Max and Yukon XL.
