Redesigned 2027 GMC Sierra Revealed With New V8s, Over 60 inches of Screens
GMC's Premium Pickup Follows the New Silverado
Chevy dropped the curtain on the 2027 Silverado just days ago, so you knew GMC wouldn't let its fancier sibling stay in the shadows for long. Now, the all-new 2027 Sierra 1500 is here, strutting its stuff ahead of hitting showrooms later this year.
GMC might call this an early preview, but there's no hiding the fact that the Sierra has been overhauled from bumper to tailgate. The brand is leaning hard into its 'Professional Grade' mantra, packing in sharper styling, new tech, fresh engines, and a healthy dose of luxury across the board.
As always, the Sierra sits a notch above the Silverado in GM's truck pecking order, with the blinged-out Denali Ultimate and the trail-ready AT4X topping the lineup.
Sharper Styling and a More High-Tech Cabin
You can spot the redesign from a mile away. The 2027 Sierra gets a boxier front end, beefier grilles, and those signature C-shaped lights that are now even slimmer. Both ends get new LED treatment, complete with welcome and goodbye light shows if you're into that sort of thing. Depending on the trim, you can also flash illuminated GMC badges, quad exhausts, and grille designs that make sure your truck doesn't blend in at the jobsite – or the country club.
Step inside, and it's clear GMC didn't just phone it in. Every trim gets a fresh cabin, but the top dogs score real wood, fancy forged accents in the Denali Ultimate, and a panoramic sunroof to let in all that natural light. The new MultiPro center console is a neat party trick, hiding storage, doubling as a mini desk, and making it easier to juice up your gadgets.
In terms of tech, the Denali Ultimate now packs over 60 inches of digital real estate, with screens for just about everything – infotainment, the passenger, your gauges, a head-up display, and even the rearview mirror. Super Cruise hands-free driving with trailering is still on the menu for the higher trims, so you can let the truck do the heavy lifting on long hauls.
New V8s Lead a Revised Sierra Lineup
Under the hood, GMC is rolling out sixth-gen Small Block V8s in 5.7 and 6.6-liter flavors. No official power numbers yet, but expect tweaks to everything from combustion to cooling and fuel injection, all in the name of more muscle, smoother rides, and better towing. Every engine gets a 10-speed auto.
Rounding out the engine lineup, there's an upgraded TurboMax four-cylinder and the Duramax diesel that's still exclusive in this class. Word on the street is the TurboMax is getting a power bump, but GMC's keeping the numbers under wraps for now.
GMC has trimmed the fat from the Sierra lineup, ditching the SLE and SLT trims. Now you get six main flavors: Pro, Elevation, AT4, AT4X, Denali, and Denali Ultimate. Whether you want a no-nonsense workhorse, a luxury land yacht, or an off-road beast with 35-inch tires and trick suspension, there's something here for everyone.
The first 2027 Sierra 1500s should hit dealerships before 2026 wraps up. As for pricing, specs, and towing numbers, GMC's keeping us in suspense until we get closer to launch.
