Washington Service Corps application deadline set for Sept. 17

With a deadline of Sept. 17, the Washington Service Corps has invited persons 18 years old and older to apply for open positions throughout the state.

For a commitment of 10 1/2 months, Washington Service Corps AmeriCorps members receive a modest living allowance of $1,195 per month, plus training, plus an educational scholarship of $5,730 that can be used for future schooling or to repay student loan debt.

It’s a chance to tutor and mentor children, help youth and adults find healthier lifestyles, or connect veterans and their families to community resources. It can also be an opportunity to help unemployed persons find jobs.

Positions are open in Tacoma, Spokane, Tukwila, Federal Way, Everett, Bellevue, Edgewood, Randle, Wenatchee, Yakima, Whidbey Island, Seattle and Redmond.
