Oregon tops Washington in gas plunge
Gas prices in the Tacoma area have dropped 8.8 cents a gallon in one week, according to GasBuddy.com’s weekly survey. Nationwide, prices have dropped 3.7 cents a gallon, averaging $2.29 gallon.
A check of Tacomagasprices.com showed Tacoma’s average price Monday morning was $2.63, with the lowest price found at Shell on Pacific Highway Southwest at $2.25 a gallon. Costco at 37th and Steele streets and APP on South Tacoma Way followed at $2.26 a gallon. Statewide the average price was $2.68, according to the website.
Patrick DeHaan, GasBuddy senior petroleum analyst, said Monday in a news release that, “Alaska saw a 17-cent decline, South Dakota a 13-cent decline and Oregon an 11-cent decline to lead the nation. Nearly 1 in 4 stations are now selling gasoline under $2/gallon.”
