Prices still falling at area gas stations

Average Tacoma gasoline prices have fallen 3.9 cents per gallon in the past week, according to gasbuddy.com’s survey of 271 gas outlets in Tacoma. This compares with the national average that has increased 2.7 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.31 a gallon.

Prices are 95.2 cents per gallon lower than the same day one year ago and are 28.5 cents per gallon lower than a month ago, according to the fuel price monitoring website.

On Monday, tacomagasprices listed the average price in the city at $2.47, with Costco and several Arco stations offering the lowest price at $2.09.

In Thurston County, the Arco on Martin Way East near Nisqually Cutoff Road Southeast was the lowest price at $2.15, according to washingtongasprices.com. APP station on Fones Road was the next lowest at $2.16.

"A majority of states saw gasoline prices jumping over the last week thanks to a upward move in oil prices as well as refinery maintenance season getting underway, constricting gasoline output," said Patrick DeHaan, senior petroleum analyst for GasBuddy.com.
