Tacoma Mayor Marilyn Strickland to get trade leadership honor
Tacoma Mayor Marilyn Strickland will be honored Monday as the “2015 Trade Hero” at a meeting of the Washington Council on International Trade, a trade policy advocacy organization.
The award will be presented at a luncheon held as part of conference, “Trans-Pacific Partnership: Improving the Way the World Trades,” at the Westin Hotel in downtown Seattle.
Strickland is being honored “for her consistent and bold leadership on trade policies that increase Washington State’s global competitiveness,” according to Ashley Dutta, council vice president.
Strickland, Dutta said, “has been an outstanding leader on the Export-Import Bank and the TPP.”
