Tacoma meeting set for discussion of medical marijuana rules
The Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board will host a public hearing regarding proposed medical marijuana rules Nov. 12 in Tacoma.
The rules concern a bill recently passed by the Legislature, 2SSB 5052, that revised state law and provisions governing medical marijuana, and made changes to the underlying law as established by I-502. That initiative legalized retail marijuana sales to recreational consumers.

The bill creates a medical marijuana authorization database for patients and providers. The board is charged with developing a merit-based system for issuing retail licenses as well as providing rules for in-home cooperatives.
The meeting, which is free and open to the public, will be held in the Seahawk Ballroom at the Best Western Tacoma Dome Hotel, 2611 E. E St. The hearing will begin at 6:30 p.m., and board staff will be present from 5:30-8:30 p.m. to answer questions from the public.
