MultiCare will buy Hospice of Kitsap County

Tacoma-based MultiCare has announced the purchase of Hospice of Kitsap County. The deal will become final Feb. 1, according to a MultiCare release.

Operating under the name of MultiCare Hospice, the two organizations “will work to expand access to hospice resources in Kitsap County and the surrounding region,” MultiCare stated.

“We welcome Hospice of Kitsap County to the MultiCare family and look forward to growing these important services to meet the needs of this area,” said Bill Robertson, MultiCare president and CEO. “Taking care of our communities is a privilege for both organizations, Together, we will continue to provide the respect, care and comfort that our patients and their families need and deserve.”

With nearly 50 employees and 60 volunteers, Hospice of Kitsap County is a nonprofit, Medicare-certified, Washington-state-licensed agency supported by the community through memorial gifts, donations, grants and annual fundraising events, MultiCare stated.

“Hospice of Kitsap County was looking for a partner whose mission and values aligned with ours, and we found it in MultiCare,” said Suzanne Plemmons, president of the board for Hospice of Kitsap County. “Their experience, expertise and commitment to community will support our patients and medical community.”

MultiCare operates Hospice and Home Health services throughout Pierce and South King counties and already provided adult and pediatric specialty services in Kitsap County.
